Teva's Terra Wraptor XCR, Teva
Designed for comfort and stability, the Terra Wraptor XCR is manufactured with the most advanced technologies to assure a good fit and an efficient performance.

The Terra Wraptor XCR is the latest design in lightweight hiking shoes from Teva. I received my pair of Terra Wraptor XCR's and set about to put them through the paces. I have worn them just about everywhere and under every circumstance I could think of for the past few months.

The following are the key features offered by the Terra Wraptor XCR's and how they faired over the course of my review.

  • Gore-Tex XCR® waterproof and breathable lining- The Terra Wraptor is gloriously waterproof. I took great joy in finding puddles and any other body of water to test them in (I even dunked my foot in a bucket to prove it to my friends!). Only when water reached over the top of my ankles did the water enter the shoes. Can they be that waterproof without causing your feet to overheat? The first few times I wore the shoes, my feet got very hot after a few hours. The heat passed after only a few minutes and I haven't had the sensation since (it was August!). Since then I have worn them for as long as 20 hours straight and my feet stay cool.
  • Flex Web Outsole Technology- Promises to optimize flexion, traction and durability. The bottom of the shoe has rubber traction with a felt-like webbing that provides excellent flexibility and traction without a heavy rubber sole. The only time I slipped was when I climbed onto the running board of the car while my shoes, and the plastic running board were wet.
  • Patented Wraptor™ Fit Technology- This is what gives the Wraptor a really remarkable fit. A continuous strapping system wraps completely around the foot. The strap wraps across the top of the shoe and through a channel in the mid-sole, securing your foot to the cushioned platform. The shoes seemed to conform more to my feet and motion (less slipping on my feet).
  • Ratchet Closure System- The ratchet closure system was included for a more personal fit. The shoes can be tightened very quickly and securely, and released just as quickly. I found that I sometimes had to make several adjustments to get the most comfortable fit. It was very easy to make them too tight or too loose. Luckily it is very easy to make the adjustments. The ratchet is paired with a pull-cord system with a hidden lace keeper.
  • Lightweight- The men's shoe weighs just 15.4 ounces; the women's weighs 12.9 ounces.

Teva's Terra Wraptor XCR is available online for $125. They are available in yellow, gray and navy for men and red, gray and navy for women.
