My first trip to the local BMX track was today. I had a good time and met some great people.

With all of the articles I've done about BMX lately I decided to have some fun. I grabbed my photographer friend, Sandy and headed to the local BMX track to watch the races. We have a small track in my town with riders coming from the surrounding areas. The turnout today was small. I was told it is because school has started again and the state competition was 2 weeks ago.

There were a few mountain bikers trying their hands at BMX. The regulars gave them a good run.

We met Tina, a 14 year old who is in her second year of racing BMX and just took state.

I was also thrilled to watch Dawson. He's six and, although he didn't race he entertained us with his freestyle. I caught him pulling tricks before the race. Apparently, his dad was as surprised as we were that he was doing them. There's nothing like watching a six-year old standing on his seat as he rolls by on his Spiderman bike.

We got some great shots and talked to some wonderful people. If you don't already go on your own, why not give it a try? Find your local BMX track and go watch the action
